IRENE FORTENERRY CHANDLER, 91, of Piedmont, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 15, 2022 at Piedmont Heath Care Rehab in Piedmont. Born in Lyndale, GA, she was one of ten children of Charles Montgomery and Ruth Inez Deaton Fortenberry. She was a member of Piedmont Church of God and was an inspector for Lawtex which later became Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John Thomas “Junior” Chandler; a grandson: Mark Chandler; two brothers: Ed and Hubert Fortenberry; and two sisters: Annie Mae Ford and Betty Fortenberry. Survivors include one daughter: Sheron (Tom) Robertson; six sons: Steve (Linda) Chandler, Ronald (Debbie) Chandler, Eddie (Michelle) Chandler, Phillip Chandler, Brent (Becky) Chandler, and Randy (Patricia) Chandler; two brothers: Jimmy Fortenberry and Eugene Fortenberry; three sisters: Dot, Shirley, and Hazel; 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several great, great grandchildren. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 18 at 2:00 PM from Dansby Heritage Chapel with Rev. David Cox officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 -2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Arrington Chapel Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Piedmont Rescue, PO Box 333, Piedmont, AL 36272.
