Hobson McGinnis, Jr.

Hobson Gregg McGinnis, Jr. passed away, on Friday, June 18, 2021, at the age of 68 years. Born on July 19, 1953, Gregg grew up in Jacksonville, Alabama and graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1971. Gregg worked as a land surveyor for Baker Land Surveying, and later as Property Manager at The Bluffs Overlooking Weiss Lake. Gregg was an avid outdoorsman, as hunting and fishing was a prominent aspect of his lifestyle. He was not a man of great means, but had a kind heart and was always generous with what he had. Most important to him was spending time with his family, friends, and his church congregation.

Gregg will be remembered by his children, Jessica (Jason) Linville, and Adam (Angela) McGinnis, by his mother, Vera Webb, his sister Karen (Robert) Holbrook, and his brother Randall (Janet) McGinnis. Gregg will also be remembered by his five grandchildren, Ronan Linville, Kieran Linville, Iivari McGinnis, Cayden Stoops, and Bria Stoops, and former spouse, Elaine Keener.

A Funeral Service in memory of Gregg will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., at Dansby Heritage Chapel, 707 Southern Ave., Piedmont, with Pastor Tom Baxley officiating. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Gregg to the Little River Canyon National Preserve at https://www.nps.gov/liri/getinvolved/supportyourpark/donation.htm or to his Church, the Highway Nine Church Of Christ in Piedmont, AL.
