Tommie Gilley

MRS. TOMMIE ESTES GILLEY, 90, of Piedmont, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Gadsden Regional Medical from a sudden illness. Born in Cherokee County to Thomas Lafayette and Cordie Jewel Rankin Estes, she was their caregiver until their deaths. She was a wonderful Christian woman who was the oldest member of Gnatville Pisgah Baptist Church and was active in all aspects of the church until her health prevented it.  She was a graduate of Spring Garden High School where she was Salutatorian.  She received her Bachelor and Master degrees from JSU and retired from the Calhoun County School System after 20 years.  She loved to garden and can the fruits of her labor.  Every night she was faithful with her Bible study.  She took such great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives that no matter how bad she felt, they could make her smile in an instant.                                                                                                                                                                                                           She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Rudolph Floyd Gilley; her parents; three brothers:  Kenneth, Glenn and Curtis Estes; and granddaughter:  Misty Gilley. Survivors include her son: Aubrey (Nellie Ruth) Gilley; daughters: Janice Gilley, Donna (Brian) Jennings, and Emily (Charles) Wallace; grandchildren: Darren (Melanie) Allen, Philip (LaDonna) GiIley, Brandy (Adam) Homesley, Daniel (Serenity) Miller, Matthew Jennings, Lonnie Campbell and Candy (Harve Jr. ) Smith; and great grandchildren: Logan Whorton, Maya Jennings, Alyssa and Alexis Gilley, Cheyenne Homesley Fulmer, Gage, MacKenzie, Macy and Maggie Homesley, Christopher McKenzy, Sarah and Michael Miller,  Shane and Brittany Smith, Kirsten and Kaitlyn Campbell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.                                                                                              Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 14, 2018 from Dansby Heritage Chapel at 2:00 pm with visitation from 12:30 pm until 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in Gnatville Cemetery. Rev. Chris Micham and Rev. Randy Haynes will officiate.   Pallbearers will be Darren Allen, Philip Gilley, Daniel Miller, Matthew Jennings, Lonnie Campbell, Logan Whorton and Gage Homesley.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials to Gnatville Cemetery Fund or Alabama Children's Home in Decatur, AL                                                       The family would like to offer special thanks to her caregivers: her daughter, Janice, and Teresa Garrett.                                                                     Dansby Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Gilley Family.
