Funeral services for Sally Pauline Naugher Putnam, 101, of Piedmont will be Sunday, November 19, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Piedmont at 3:00 PM with Rev. Michael Ingram officiating and burial in Piedmont Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the church.

Mrs. Putnam passed away Friday, November 17, 2017, peacefully.

Survivors include her niece, Susan Marshall Ponder of Anniston; nephew, Mike Naugher of Piedmont; great nieces, Ashley Ponder of Birmingham, Ginger Hardiman of Decatur and Gina Reilly of Cedartown; great nephew, Richard Naugher; great-great nieces, Rachael Hardiman, Makayla Naugher, Gracie Naugher and Kaley Slaughter; and great-great nephew, Matthew Hardiman.

Pallbearers will be Pat Meadows, Richard Naugher, Robert Hardiman, Paul Harper, Danny Pointer, and Ken Grissom.

Mrs. Putnam was preceded in death by her husband, Volyer C. Putnam; her parents, William Morris and Jenny Elizabeth Warren Naugher; sister, Mattie Seale Naugher Marshall; and brothers, Thomas Moses Naugher and Harold Shea Naugher.

Mrs. Putnam was born in Piedmont, Alabama on March 28, 1916. She loved to read and was very studious. She graduated from Piedmont High School in the class of 1934 and was the class salutorian and class historian. She loved school, and attended Jacksonville Teachers College. In celebration of her 100th birthday, she was honored by Jacksonville State University President Dr. John M Beehler.

Mrs. Putnam was devoted to her family and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School in the Children’s Department for many years.

Mrs. Putnam was employed by Standard Coosa Thatcher and worked in the payroll department.
