1943 - 2025

Ollie Sue Heath Lachnit Plot, known throughout her life as Ollie Sue, slipped away peacefully in the place where her story began--Piedmont, Alabama. Born in 1943 and a proud graduate of the Piedmont High School, class of 1961, she carried the spirit of her hometown with her through every chapter of her life.

Ollie Sue devoted many years to the federal government, working with quiet strength and unwavering sense of responsibility, but the role she cherished most was that of mother. She raised three children—Donna, Wendell, and Billy—each forever shaped by her humor, her grit, and her ability to make an ordinary day feel like a memory worth keeping.

Those who knew Ollie Sue will remember her for the small, unmistakable things: her unmistakable way of telling a story, the warmth she could  create with nothing more than a kitchen table and a conversation, and the stubborn steak that made her both unforgettable and unshakably herself, She had a way of grounding others simply by being present. 

After retiring, she returned to Piedmont just a year and a half before her passing—a homecoming that felt less like a move and more like a circle closing. She spent her final moths surrounded by familiar roads. familiar voice, and a landscape threaded with her earliest memories. It was exactly where she wanted to be.

Ollie Sue leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and a thousand small moments that live on in the hearts of her children and all who were luck enough to know her. Her story is stitched into the history of Piedmont and into the lives she touched, one memory at a time.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A committal service will be held at the McFry cemetery in Piedmont, AL at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
