Marcus Theron Raney JR

MARCUS "Marty" THERON RANEY, JR., passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from injuries in an accident. He was born at Ft. McClellan to Marcus T. Raney, Sr. and Kathy Jane Tucker Raney.

Marty was in the home remodeling business and coached at Piedmont Parks and Recreation Department for many years.  He was an avid sports advocate and a great coach who loved all the kids he coached.  He was the center of anything he wanted to do.  He was a devoted husband to Michelle, who was the center of his life, and loving father to his kids.  His nieces and nephews all felt like he was a very special uncle and his love and passion for children were seen in all his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle, and sister, Brandy Lee Raney.

Survivors include his mother: Kathy Curtis; father: Marc Raney, Sr.; children: Patrick T. (Kaitlin) Raney, Amber (Andrew Floyd) Raney, and Steven M. Raney; brother: Tony Curtis; sisters: April (Matt) Folsom, Cindy Michelle Waugh, and Barbara Ann (Will); numerous nieces and nephews and all the kids he coached.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 4:00 PM from Dansby Heritage Chapel with visitation from 12 – 4 PM.  Rev. Ashley Penton will officiate and burial will be in Carmel Cemetery. The family will accept flowers or memorial donations to the City of Piedmont Parks and Recreation Department, 500 Mill St, Piedmont, AL 36272.  Pallbearers were Jared Spears, Johnny Hitchcock, Romero Mancillia, Lewis Holcomb, Dawson Dodd and Dalton Dodd.  Honorary Pallbearers were members of Twisted Brotherhood.
