Lovella McGatha Slayton Morris

LOVELLA McGATHA SLAYTON MORRIS, 72, of Centre, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at her residence with her family by her side. The Cherokee County native was one of 15 children born to Murney Franklin and Alvertia Lizzie Doss McGatha., who have both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Chrystal Slayton; grandson: Colby Slayton; and brothers: Bud, Billy, Daniel, Bobby, Wayne, Matthew, and Harley McGatha.

She is survived by her husband: Ronnie C. Morris; sons: Chris (Kelley) Slayton and Phillip Blake Slayton; daughters: Stephanie Rana Slayton (David) Benefield and Bridgette Lovella Slayton (Bhrugesh) Patel; sister: Shirley (Larry) Buttram; brothers: Marvin (Kathy) McGatha, Andrew (Becky) McGatha, Guy (Patty) McGatha, Tony (Joan) McGatha, Joel (Marie) McGatha, and Richard (Dana) McGatha; 29 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She loved going to the casino, was an avid card player, and her husband, kids, and grandkids were her life. She loved to travel and there was never a dull moment with her being the life of the party. She was a wonderful woman who never met a stranger and loved to talk to everyone she met.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 5, 2024 at 4:00 P.M. from Dansby Heritage Chapel with visitation will be from 2:00- 4:00 P.M. Rev. Sherry Donaldson and Rev. Paul Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Grandsons serving as pallbearers.
