Leroy Fortenberry

LEROY FORTENBERRY, 88, of Piedmont, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at his residence. He was a mechanic for Calhoun County Road Department. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph Whitten and Claudie Cochran Fortenberry; wife: Doris Parris Fortenberry; son: Colvin Fortenberry; six brothers; and six sisters.
Survivors include his children: Norris (Barbara) Fortenberry, Randall (Cheryl) Fortenberry, Frankie (Leann) Fortenberry, Keith (Misty)Fortenberry, Mary ( Jerry) Phillips, Karen Fondren, and Terry, Yvonne, and Libby Fortenberry; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2017, from Dansby Heritage Chapel. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Piedmont Memory Garden.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedysis Hospice, Dr. Ulrich, nurse Frankie Maddox, and caregivers Libby Justice and Connie Weaver.
