David Timothy Holmes, 62, of Piedmont, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Anniston.  He was born in Anniston to William “Bill” Lewis and Bobbie Jean Gossett Holmes, who preceded him in death.                                                                                                          

A devout Christian, he believed strongly in faith and family, and served as a youth minister in Selma, AL for years. He attended JSU, receiving both a business degree and a master’s degree. While at JSU, he was very active in Kappa Delta Pi honor society, serving as President. He was always known for his quick wit, intellectual conversations, mischievous grin, and kind and helpful spirit. He taught History in Selma City Schools for many years and was a beloved teacher.        

Survivors include his only daughter: Hillery Holmes Ruiz, and her husband, Enrique; brother: Rodney Holmes, and his wife, Matha; uncle: Tony Gossett; niece: Whitney Kennedy; nephew: Jarrod Holmes; and many friends.              

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM from Dansby Heritage Chapel with Rev Tony Gossett officiating.  Visitation will be from 1-2 PM and burial will be in Piedmont Memory Garden.
