Bonnie Ruth Maddox, a cherished pillar of her family and community, passed away on June 16, 2025, in Piedmont, Alabama, at the remarkable age of 96. Born on September 18, 1928, Bonnie lived a life that was a testament to kindness, love, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of others. Her gentle spirit and caring nature left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In her warm, welcoming home, Bonnie was revered not only for her nurturing personality but also for her culinary prowess, particularly in cooking for her family. Each meal was a labor of love, flavorfully celebrating the bonds of family and friendship around the table. Her hands were equally skilled in the garden, where she cultivated blooms that mirrored her loving demeanor—vibrant and full of life.
Bonnie's life was enriched by her relationships, including her beloved daughter-in-law, Rita Gresham, her special nephew, Jim Trantham, and numerous of nieces and nephews. She found joy in their company, creating cherished memories that would be carried on in their hearts forever.
Bonnie is now reunited with her dearly departed family members, including her devoted husband, Floyd Maddox, and her loving parents, John and Bertha Lockridge, and her adoring son, Gary Gresham. Her siblings—Bessie Henderson, Willie Cooper, Jewell Aldridge, Evelyn Maddox, and an infant brother—await her arrival in the embrace of eternity, deepening the familial bonds that were a source of strength throughout her life.
A simple and lovely lady, Bonnie embodied grace in her approach to life. Her innate ability to see the good in everyone inspired those around her to strive for the same. She was a calming presence, a nurturing soul, and a beacon of hope and compassion for her loved ones.
The remembrance of Bonnie will take place at Dansby Heritage Chapel in Piedmont, Alabama. A visitation will be held on June 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service, officiated by Rev. Roy Lee Naugher, on June 19, 2025, commencing at 12:00 PM and concluding at 1:00 PM. Burial will be Friday, June 20, 2025, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Griffin, GA at 12pm Eastern Time. As we gather to celebrate the life of this remarkable woman, let us carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of humanity.
