Charles Parker

December 22, 1933 — September 4, 2021

CHARLES TAYLOR PARKER, 87, of Jacksonville, entered Heaven’s portals on Saturday, September 4, 2021.                              Born in Choccolocco to LeRoy Efford and Elizabeth Erwin Parker, he proudly served his country in the US Air Force.  He shared the past 66 years with the love of his life, Sybil Parris Parker.                                                                             He enjoyed playing dominos, playing with the 55 + Softball and Basketball teams.  He was a dedicated member of Tredegar Chapel Congregational Holiness Church, where he played the bass fiddle, served as deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Trustee.  He built custom homes in the Calhoun, Cherokee, and Etowah Counties.  He was a friend to everyone he met and was a real ‘character’ with a dry sense of humor.                                                                                                                                                                     He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother: Dewey Parker.                                                                                                                        He is survived by his wife: Sybil Parris Parker; three sons: Charles Alan (Shelia) Parker, Alvin Neil (Sherry) Parker and Ralph Edward (Donna) Parker; three brothers:  Irie Parker, James Harold Parker, and Rev. Samuel L. Parker; 8 grandchildren: Seth (Danielle) Parker, Shane Parker, Kathleen (Jon) Frederick, Preston (Kathryn) Parker, Heather (Matt) Headley, Taylor (Karrie) Parker, Daniel Parker, and Michael (Gema) Parker; and 7 great grandchildren: J.P. and Charlie Frederick, Hannah, Noah, Sage, and Soren Headley, and Lochlan Parker. PRIVATE, FAMILY ONLY , Graveside services will be held Monday, September 6 at 1:00 PM from Hillcrest Cemetery in Jacksonville with Rev. Leslee Bailey officiating.
