Mr. Robert Edward Dobbs, 70, of Piedmont, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born in Gadsden to Robert Edward and Faynell Smith Dobbs. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam era, receiving the National Service Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart, Vietnam Combat medal w/ 60 device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Vietnam Cam w/06 1st class, and Code of Conduct Medal. After his honorable discharge from the US Army, he was a truck driver. He married Tammy Perry Dobbs and they made their final home together in Piedmont the past eleven years. He is survived by his wife, Tammy; daughters: Jillian Durham, Angela Barbee, Hannah Barbee and Emily Barbee; son: Thomas Sullivan; and grandchildren: Makayla Durham, Benjamin Durham, Austin Sherrill, Cameron Sherrill, and Khloe Sherrill. He was looking forward to the birth of his first great grandchild in two weeks, Madalyn Dianne Scott. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Celistel Lee Tyler Durham. There will be no services for Mr. Dobbs. Dansby Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Dobbs Family.
